Opportunities for Undergraduate Research
Psychology Majors with graduate school
aspirations, especially in the non-applied areas, should actively seek
opportunities for undergraduate research (talk to your Advisor), obtain support
from the university (click
UExplore
), present their work at regional or national conferences (we
regularly attend several), and if possible publish their results
(Psi Chi Journal of
Undergraduate Research). Those with applied
clinical goals also benefit from undergraduate research, but they benefit more
from internships and field placements with local agencies (see
UE Undergraduate Internships).
Neuroscience Majors with graduate school
aspirations, especially in non-applied areas, should actively seek opportunities
for summer undergraduate research at well-know neuroscience laboratories,
usually at large state universities, medical schools, or related research
institutes (click
Summer Programs
or Google institutions directly and search "Summer Undergraduate Research
Opportunities"). Those with applied medical goals benefit from summer
undergraduate research, especially at medical schools, as well as internships
and field placements with local agencies (see
UE Undergraduate Internships).
Usually summer programs provide financial support.
